<h3>L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen</h3>
<p>
L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen (In English: Doctor&rsquo;s Handbook) is an online medical encyclopedia aimed primarily at Danish General Practitioners and secondarily at other health care professionals. It contains approx. 2,500 medical articles about conditions, symptoms, treatments, and health and is illustrated with over 2,000 drawings, photos, x-rays, videos, and animations.</p>
<h3>Update of content</h3>
<p>Every article in L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is written and revised by a Danish Specialist and a General Practitioner or other relevant health care professionals&nbsp;and is updated on a regular basis to make sure that the content is reliable and up to date. <p>A secretariat and an editorial team based at the <a href="https://www.laeger.dk/english">Danish Medical Association</a> is in charge of daily administration. </p>
<h3>Access to L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen</h3>
<p>L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is easily accessed through <a href="https://www.sundhed.dk/sundhedsfaglig/">sundhed.dk</a>&nbsp;- the National Danish eHealth Portal - or via <a href="http://www.lægehåndbogen.dk/">L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen.dk</a>. L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is free of charge for everyone and requires no log-in.</p>
<h3>Funding </h3>
<p>L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is a non-commercial, non-profit encyclopedia financed out of public funds. It is initiated and owned by the <a href="http://www.regioner.dk/services/in-english">Danish Regions</a> and the five regions.</p>
<h3>Purpose </h3>
<p>The overall ambition of L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is to provide the General Practitioner with a clinical tool which is useful in his/hers busy working day. All information in L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is presented in such a way that the amount of time it takes to get relevant information is minimal.</p>
<p>The purpose of L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen is to: </p>

<h2>About Patienth&aring;ndbogen</h2>
<h3>Easily understandable information</h3>
<p>Patienth&aring;ndbogen (Patient's Handbook) is an online medical encyclopedia for patients and relatives and contains approx. 3000 articles and 2000 illustrations. Health information in Patienth&aring;ndbogen is communicated in a non-academic language and adjusted to the needs of non-professionals.</p>
<h3>Interaction with L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen</h3>
<p>Almost every condition described in L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen has a corresponding article in Patienth&aring;ndbogen aimed at citizens. Patient information can be approached via links in L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen. This allows health care professionals to easily access and print from Patienth&aring;ndbogen as a supplement when informing and advising patients and relatives about health-related issues.</p>
<h3>Medical editors</h3>
<p>All articles in Patienth&aring;ndbogen are written and regularly revised by the same Danish specialists and General Practitioners responsible for L&aelig;geh&aring;ndbogen&rsquo;s content. This ensures same high quality and correspondence between health information in both encyclopedias. </p>

<p>Patienth&aring;ndbogen is also free of charge and accessible through Sundhed.dk or <a href="http://www.patienthåndbogen.dk/">patienth&aring;ndbogen.dk</a>. <h2>About the Danish Medical Association </h2>
<h3>Objectives </h3>
<p>The specific objectives of the Danish Medical Association, as stated in its statutes, is: to unite Danish doctors in order to protect the interests of the medical profession, and to serve as the body through which the influence of the medical profession may be exercised on general social issues in the best interest of health and the health care system.</p>

<p>While the Danish Medical Association is a lobby organization for Danish doctors it is also recognized by the Parliament, the national health administration, the ministries, and the private sector as an expert and advisory body for the authorities in medical questions and is represented in a number of official committees and working parties. Nearly all Danish doctors are members of the Danish Medical Association.</p>
